Ralph Glen Miller, of Blacksburg, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, has run the race, finished the course and has gained his crown. He departed this life on March 22, 2019.
Ralph was born June 13, 1935, to Frank and Gola Miller, who predeceased him along with a brother Frank (Pete) Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Joann; his daughter, Glenda Patton; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Melissa Miller; his beloved granddaughters, Alanna and Lyndsay Miller; his nieces, Carolyn Stanford and Bonnie Caudle; his nephews, John, Wayne and Glen Miller; a host of Army buddies and friends of the community as well as a devoted church family.
Ralph worked at the Virginia Tech Tailor Shop for 39 years rising to manager and “master tailor”. He served in the U.S. Army for 31 years with combined active duty and Natural Guard service, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant. He was a lifelong resident of Blacksburg, an avid hunter and fisherman and an active member of Blacksburg Christian Church.
The family received friends on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at the Blacksburg Christian Church. A celebration of Ralph’s life immediately followed at 3:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating.
