In an announcement, Montgomery County Public Schools have approved Option 2 redistricting plan. Option 2 is one of three choices mulled by the redistricting committee since last year in the effort to begin to relieve overcrowding in Christiansburg Primary and Elementary Schools moving approximately 150 students who live in the Smith Creek and Mudpike areas to Falling Branch Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year.
The change in elementary school zones goes into effect in the 2019-2020 school year.
Rising kindergarten students should register at Falling Branch Elementary School. Homes with current elementary school children will receive a letter inviting them to an open house at FBES and rising fifth-grade students in the redistricted area will have the choice to attend either Christiansburg Elementary School or Falling Branch Elementary School for 2019-2020.
Students who choose to stay at Christiansburg Elementary School must provide their own transportation.
Student records will transfer automatically.
Discussion of Phase II and its three options for the renovation of schools including plumbing, electrical and roofs began in March.
Final redistricting information is available on the school website listing addresses zoned to attend Falling Branch Elementary, Christiansburg Middle, and Christiansburg High. https://sites.google.com/mcps.org/redistrictinginfo/home?authuser=1
