Donald “Donnie” Lee Cook, 76, of Radford, after a short illness passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 with his family by his side. As he drove his ’57 Chevy through the pearly gates, there to meet him were his parents, James Otis Cook and Lucille Goddard Cook; and his sister, Peggy Blackburn.
Born August 8, 1942, Donnie was a 1960 graduate of Oceana High School in Oceana, W. Va. and was owner of Tri Don’s Auto’s. He was a car salesman for 43 years. He loved and collected all types of cars, from muscle cars to Hot Wheels. He took great pride in his vehicles and was often found with a bottle of car wax or Armor All, cleaning and buffing them with his furry friends Willow and Dallas always by his side. Donnie was a member of Fairlawn Church of God where he served as an usher.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Trish Cook; his children and their spouses, James and Dawn Cook of Oceana, W. Va., Rodney and Lisa Cook of Sutton, W. Va., Shane and Darrin Hawk of Greenville, S. C., Donald Cook II and Tara of Bristol, Va., and Melissa Stump of Dublin, Va.; his grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family received friends on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Fairlawn Church of God. A celebration of Donnie’s life began at 12 p.m. with Rev. Marcus Harrison officiating. Interment followed in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Ladies Ministry of Fairlawn Church of God.
