Montgomery County Kids’ Fishing Day sponsored by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, U.S. Forest Service and the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department pulled in 125 kids and their parents earlier this month at Pandapas Pond in Blacksburg.
The event, for kids 15 and under, has been held for 30 years. Kids fished and the sponsors measured fish and grilled hotdogs for lunch on a sunny day.
Brooklyn Allen, of Snowville, with a fish of 14.25 inches won first place Cameron Huffman, of Craig County, was awarded second place with a 13.37-inch fish, and Nolan Wood, of Snowville hauled in a 13.25 inch fish. Winners received variously, tackle boxes, trophies and rods and reels.
