Harry and Anna Marie Richardson stand on their front porch on Ridge Road in Christiansburg, where their patriotic window dressings are part of their celebration of the Fourth of July. The draped red, white and blue cloths are called “bunting,” The name comes from the cloth used for flags in the 1600s. The Richardsons have been using bunting-style decor for Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day for years. They wore out one set of bunting drapes and had to replace them last year, purchasing them from Main Street Primitives in Salem. Inside their home, more buntings adorn additional windows.
