Three school buses from Montgomery County, Radford City, and Floyd County will be parked at the Christiansburg Walmart from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On this day, the community is urged to “stuff the bus” to send local children back to school prepared to learn. Christiansburg Aquatic Center, 2-4 p.m. Have you ever jumped from five meters in the air into 17 feet of water? Well, at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center you can! We open our five meter platform and three meter spring board to the public. Come and Tackle the Tower at the CAC. All who participate must be able to swim 25 yards.

Women’s & Gender Studies presentation
Women’s & Gender Studies Program of Virginia Tech presents “Living beyond Southern Living: Personal narratives from Southern women” at the Blacksburg Public Library (200 Miller Street) 5:30-7 p.m.The presentation is a four Southern women autobiographical tell-all performance about self-understanding. Their edgy narratives examine gender expectations, religious beliefs, sexuality, and the physical body. They ask, What is a feminist? Am I? Are you? A Q & A follows the performances. Some themes may be disturbing to some audiences, such as sex and abuse.

In partnership with the New River Valley Regional Commission, Montgomery County and the City of Radford are seeking feedback from citizens regarding the current status of broadband in our communities. Community Health Center of the New River Valley helps adults access VA health coverage
Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, new health coverage for adults will cover more people. If you work in retail, construction, childcare, landscaping, food service or many of the jobs that don’t offer health insurance, you may be able to get low-cost health insurance that includes regular preventive care and treatment for chronic health conditions. Docent: training is provided for individuals to staff the front office, answer calls, make sales, and interpret the history of the museum; events planning: planning and implementation of our major events annually, including Heritage Day, Mountains of Music, h’Arts on Main, Cruisin’ Christiansburg; Working with any of the committees: (Membership, Marketing, Events/Fundraising, Building Expansion, Building and Grounds); research with genealogy projects: working with the genealogy team; gardening: working in the garden with Virginia Master Gardeners. Pre-1940s schools exhibit seeks contributions
The Montgomery Museum of Art and History is celebrating an upcoming new exhibit at the museum on the history of schools in Montgomery County with a series of school photos this month.
