Lizzy Daidone is the new sports trainer at Christiansburg High School. She joins the staff this fall after previously serving as a trainer at the Division III’s Randolph College, covering women’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s soccer.
She has also served as a graduate assistant trainer at Winthrop University.
“I love being a trainer on the high school level, so this was a great opportunity for me,” Daidone said, who grew up in Fluvanna County, just west of Charlottesville and attended Lynchburg College as an undergraduate.
As part of her responsibility, she will also teach an introduction to sports medicine class at Christiansburg High School. At least nine students are enrolled.
“I think the response has been good. It is only the second year it has been offered and it’s my first year teaching it, but the kids seem to enjoy it,” she said.
Her long-term goal is to continue to be a trainer on the high school level. “I enjoy being around sports and being able to keep athletes healthy. It’s a rewarding feeling seeing an athlete return to play after being injured,” she concluded.
