The Christiansburg Farmers’ Market is hosting its first annual Farm-to-Table style dinner on Monday, Sept. 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Great Road on Main (100 W. Main St.).
The dinner will feature a performance and mini art show by the Montgomery County Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM). Charles Parker, Friends of Southwest Virginia chef, will source all the dinner ingredients from the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market and will prepare and serve the dinner during the performance. Recipe cards will be available as a take-home souvenir. All proceeds benefit Montgomery County JAM, a non-profit providing communities with the tools and support they need to teach children to play and dance to traditional old time and bluegrass music.
“This event will be a first for the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market. I’m excited to celebrate a successful season with the community by hosting this Farm-to-Table style dinner,” said Casey Jenkins, Christiansburg Farmers’ Market manager. “The goal is to bring the community out in shared fellowship and to recognize all the great produce and food that we have locally in the New River Valley and how the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market can help contribute to eating and buying local! This event acknowledges and recognizes all the hard work that our local farmers do for our community. A big thanks to Chef Charles Parker, Montgomery County JAM and especially the farmers of the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market!”
The event ticket includes dinner, a glass of wine from Iron Heart Winery (additional glasses available for purchase) and the JAM performance. Each ticket is general admission: $40 for 21 & over, $35 for 12-20 or non-drinking, and $25 for 11 & under.
