After Wednesday morning’s grand opening ceremonies, the Radford Food City supermarket has opened its doors to customers.
The new Radford Food City supermarket officially opened for business today, June 24, after grand opening ceremonies at the 701 Tyler Avenue location.
Held at 8 a.m., the grand opening included a ribbon cutting and flag-raising ceremonies. The 49,700+-square-foot supermarket is Food City’s first location in Radford.
“We are extremely excited to be joining the Radford retail community. We look forward to serving the residents of Radford and Montgomery County,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.
The location includes an in-store bakery/deli, complete with a hot food bar, a stone pizza oven and a café seating area. Pending COVID-19 regulations, a deluxe fresh food bar will also be available. It will feature a wide variety of soup, wings and salad and fruit selections.
Full-service meat and seafood departments will offer pre-marinated and seasoned oven-ready products, plus a complete selection of top-quality meats that are all-natural with no solutions added, including certified angus beef and fresh sushi. In-house meat cutters will hand-cut steaks and fresh meat to order.
Expanded grocery, frozen food and produce departments will offer a complete selection of gourmet, international, organics and specialty items. The Food City Floral Boutique is staffed with a designer seven days a week, offering a full assortment of fresh-cut floral arrangements, bouquets, gift items and more. Rapid checkout service will be provided by five traditional check- out lanes and ten self-checkouts.
For added convenience, the location includes a Starbucks café, offering a wide assortment of blended hot and cold coffees and beverages, a growler station with craft beers on tap, along with a number of wines and a seating area, and GoCart curbside pick-up. GoCart customers can shop on-line at foodcity.com and pick-up their order when they arrive at the store.
A Food City Pharmacy is also included, equipped with a drive-thru and consultation room, as well as a Food City Gas N’ Go, featuring a large five pump station with diesel and electric car charging station.
With the Food City Fuel Bucks, saving money is easier than ever. Shoppers will earn one Fuel Buck for every dollar they spend and receive bonus Fuel Bucks on qualifying prescriptions and participating gift cards. For every 150 Fuel Bucks redeemed, customers will save 15¢ per gallon at Food City Gas ‘N Go. In addition, every Wednesday, Food City Gas ‘N Go customers can redeem 300 Fuel Bucks to receive 30¢ off per gallon of any grade fuel up to 20 gallons.
The new location also features several award-winning energy saving concepts, ranging from energy efficient glass cooler doors, parking lot lights and refrigeration systems to motion sensors and 100% LED lighting, as well as an open architectural design.
“Our customers can expect to find top-quality products, exceptional customer service and competitive pricing, along with some exciting new features and conveniences,” said Smith.
