Christiansburg farmers market shows steady growth
Bruce Caldwell of Cavalier Farm in Floyd County stocks up on his fresh, home-grown peaches at Thursday’s Christiansburg Farmers Market. The restraints in place because of the coronavirus have hindered the market’s growth, but in the early weeks, it has managed. Thursday saw 20 booths and stands in place for the market’s barbecue festival that included Woo’s Q Brew, Bent Mountain BBQ sauce and The Crusty Bark. Caldwell offered his customers fresh eggs, apples and peaches to go with homemade apple butter, jams and jellies his wife Teresa makes. He also had on hand honey straight from his farm’s bee hives, herbs and plants and a good supply of fresh meats, including pork, beef steaks and homemade sausage.
