Motels and motor courts were built along the county’s main highways in the 1940s and 1950s. Hornsby’s Motor Court was located on U. S. 11 in the Plum Creek community. Built in 1947, the unique Mission-inspired building encompassed twenty-six rooms in thirteen buildings. (This image from the D. D.
