Law enforcement personnel have apprehended a suspect in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred Monday afternoon in Blacksburg.
The suspect, whose identity was not released, was also sought in connection with a shooting incident earlier in the day in Roanoke County.
Personnel from the Blacksburg Police Department responded to a 2:33 p.m. call Monday reporting the carjacking in the 800 block of University City Blvd. The victim told the police the suspect had displayed a handgun and had stolen a white 2006 Toyota Corolla with Tennessee tags BTG-251. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on University City Blvd. toward Prices Fork Road.
The suspect is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. At the time of the incident, he wore a black hoodie and a face mask.
The Blacksburg Police Department and the Salem Police Department coordinated their investigation into the incidents.
