James Madison Williams, 78, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, April 24, 2021.
He was born in Montgomery County on July 16, 1942, to the late James Emmett and Roma Sisson Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Chandler Williams.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Jimmy had also been a member of the Christiansburg Fire Department since 1967, having served as the longest sitting Assistant Fire Chief. He served as a member of the Southwest Virginia Firefighters Association and the Virginia Firefighters Association where he is a member of the Hall of Fame.
He managed Beaver Auto Supply for many years. He loved spending his summers as a member of the Montgomery County Game and Fish Club.
Jimmy is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Sarver, Terry and Denise Williams, and Jeremy Williams (Sara); grandchildren Madison, Peyton, Oakley and Rally Williams; sisters and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Buck Shrader and Becky Deweese; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friend and neighbor, Neil Epperly.
A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Turner officiating.
