Blacksburg – Warm Hearth Village recently hired Jennifer Akers as the new Director of Nursing for the Kroontje Health Care Center.
Akers earned her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing in 2015 from ITT Technical School in Salem while working as a certified nursing assistant. She became a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2016.
Akers came to Warm Hearth from Medical Facilities of America (MFA) Pulaski Health and Rehabilitation Center where she was the Director of Nursing. Previously she was the Assistant Director of Nursing at the MFA Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center.
As Director of Nursing, she serves residents’ needs on all levels and is committed to continuously learning new nursing processes she can share with the staff. “Warm Hearth is unlike any senior community I have ever experienced. I was in love at first sight,” Akers said. “The residents are so happy and it is evident the staff cares for them as they would their own family.”
Akers lives in Pulaski with her husband, four children, two Chihuahuas, and an English bulldog. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and cooking.
Warm Hearth Village is a nonprofit senior living community in Blacksburg that provides a full continuum of living options on its campus and in the home.
