The concert will feature a performance by the Roanoke Symphony Brass Quintet, led by Dr. Jay Crone, the principal trombonist with the Roanoke Symphony, a member of Luther Memorial, and a professor of brass music at Virginia Tech.
Performing as part of the brass ensemble are Brian Strawley and Tom Bithell, trumpet; Abigail Pack, horn; Dr. Jay Crone, trombone; and Brandon Smith, tuba. They will be performing a variety of seasonal holiday favorites that the whole family will enjoy.
This is a free concert, but attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry, a joint ministry of over 25 churches in Blacksburg of varying denominations, and a program of New River Community Action, Inc., dedicated to serving families of Blacksburg and McCoy through donations of cash and food.
The Rev. Monica Weber, pastor at Luther Memorial, said, “We are delighted to offer this free holiday concert to the Blacksburg community and look forward to sharing this beautiful concert with our friends, families, and neighbors.”
