Public Notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization of Montgomery
County will be adding three additional days for appeals to be heard to the list
already advertised for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage or for making decisions on such complaints. Upon
hearing complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration
and INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM SUCH REAL ESTATE ASSESSMENTS. Before a change can be granted the taxpayer, or agent, must
overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or
agent must prove that the property is not uniform with other similar properties or prove that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.
Below is the list of all the dates the Board of Equalization will be hearing appeals, including the three additional dates, starting on Wednesday, February
22, 2023 and ending on Wednesday March 29, 2023. The Board of Equalization will meet at the Reassessment Office, 16 N. Franklin Street (Back
Entrance), Christiansburg, Va. on the following days:
The Board of Equalization offices will be closed on days that the Montgomery County Public Schools are closed for inclement weather.
