RADFORD – The Big South Conference announced Wednesday March 22, Konstantinos Raptis, of Radford, has been named Big South Player of the Week for the second straight week after a flawless record in doubles and singles for the Highlanders.
In a dominant win against Longwood, Raptis helped pave the way to the 7-0 sweep with a clinching doubles match on court one 6-1. On court three singles, Raptis wasted no time to a straight-set 6-1, 6-4 victory over his opponent.
In the Highlanders next match against a stout New Mexico squad, Dinos provided a pair of crucial points in a close finish. While teaming up with Demis Taramonlis, the duo had a huge clinching doubles win on court one 7-5. In singles play, Raptis rebounded and showed some mental fortitude coming back to win on court three 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Radford recently took down UNC Asheville earlier this week 5-2 and is looking to stay hot in conference play. The Highlanders return home to host Gardner-Webb this Thursday at 2 p.m. for another crucial match that’ll mark the halfway point of conference play.
