Montgomery County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, March 27, 2023 making appointments to three separate positions as well as passing resolutions affecting the communities of Riner and Blacksburg.
An initial resolution of appropriation, allowing for an additional amount of $791,325 to be added to the General Funds of the budget, was accepted by the board. The funds will support county actions which include: maintenance of the county’s radio cache program, voting precinct equipment, materials, and training, insurance proceeds for Price Mountain Tower’s rebuild, software and hardware maintenance, and modifications to stormwater erosion issues.
Located in the Riner Magisterial District, the Cloverlea subdivision’s final plat was approved by the board, which will provide 16 additional residential lots.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors of Montgomery County, Virginia does hereby approve the Final Plat of “”Major Subdivision Plat Showing Cloverlea Phase II-B, Lots 20 Through 35”, (Balzer and Associates Job Number 04190034.00, dated March 21, 2023) Riner Magisterial District.
As previously presented by the Montgomery County Planning Commission to the Board of Supervisors in a memorandum dated February 15, 2023, the proposed and approved site for the Preserve of Walnut Springs has met with the board’s approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors of Montgomery County, Virginia does hereby approve the Final Plat of “Major Subdivision Plat of the Preserve of Walnut Springs, Section 2”, (Foresight Design Services Job No. 2196.2 dated 11/7/2022), Price’s Fork Magisterial District.

Additionally, the Board of Supervisors approved the following positions during Monday night’s meeting:
Jude Cochran is appointed to the position of Zoning Administrator for the purposes of carrying out the responsibilities of administering the Montgomery County Zoning Ordinance.
Toby Akers, Jr., is appointed to the Agricultural and Forestal District (AFD) Advisory Committee with an effective date of March 28, 2023.
Angela Joyner has been appointed as Radford University’s representative to the Montgomery Regional Economic Development Commission effective April 1, 2023 and expiring April 30, 2026.
