The Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of its Summer Reading Program from June 2 to July 29, 2023. This year’s program, themed ‘All Together Now,’ focuses on the importance of community and fostering connections. Readers of all ages, from toddlers to adults, are invited to join in the festivities, read books, participate in various programs and activities, and have the chance to win exciting prizes all summer long!
Recognizing the potential for learning loss during extended breaks from school, particularly over the summer, the Summer Reading Program aims to keep young minds active through reading and engaging educational activities. By offering an array of enriching experiences, the library hopes to combat learning gaps and nurture a love for books and learning in the community.
The Summer Reading Program kicks off on June 2 with a special Chalk Walk celebration at the Christiansburg Library, taking place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants of all ages can look forward to picking up flyers and information about the program, get hands on help with registering in Beanstack, https://mfrl.beanstack.org/ or downloading the Beanstack app, as well as decorating parts of the sidewalk or Storywalk. The event will be filled with enjoyable activities, bubbles, and sweet treats for everyone to enjoy.
In addition to the traditional reading program, the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library has curated an exciting schedule of fun and educational activities across multiple locations. Families are in for a treat with a series of FREE performances by talented artists, including:
