Meadowbrook Public Library is excited to announce the return of the Summer Backpack Program, a community initiative aimed at helping families with children and teens stretch their grocery budget during the summer months.
The program will run every Tuesday, from June 6 to August 8, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Meadowbrook Public Library, located at 267 Alleghany Spring Rd., in Shawsville.
The Summer Backpack Program will provide families with bags filled with nutritious food items to ensure their children have access to essential sustenance during the summer break. These bags will be available on a drop-in basis for residents of Eastern Montgomery County, offering a valuable resource for local families in need.
In addition to the weekly food distribution, the Summer Backpack Program will also provide engaging crafts activities for children, creating an inclusive and fun atmosphere for participants.
For those who are unable to pick up their weekly food bag, the library offers the option to call and make an appointment for a later pick-up. Families are encouraged to contact the Meadowbrook Library at 540-268-1964 for further information and to schedule appointments.
To ensure equal access and distribution, the Summer Backpack Program will provide one bag of food per child per week. Families are requested to utilize the drive-through service at the curbside side of the library for a convenient and efficient experience.
The Meadowbrook Public Library is grateful to have received funding for the Summer Backpack Program from local agencies, churches, civic groups, and generous private donors. Their support has made it possible to offer this vital program to the community, enabling families to meet their nutritional needs during the summer months.
For more information, please contact the Meadowbrook Public Library at 540-268-1964. We look forward to serving our community and making a positive impact on the lives of Eastern Montgomery County families this summer.
