Athlon Sports released its preseason All-ACC teams, and the Hokies landed six players on the preseason squads.
Wide receiver Ali Jennings was named to the first team offense while Tucker Holloway placed on the first team as a punt returner. Cornerback Mansoor Delane was selected to the second team, followed by three fourth-team selections, including offensive lineman Kaden Moore, cornerback Dorian Strong and punter Peter Moore.
Jennings tallied 54 receptions for 959 yards and nine touchdowns at Old Dominion during the 2022 season on his way to earning all-Sun Belt first team honors. He registered five 100-yard receiving games and had a stretch of seven straight games with a touchdown. He is listed as the second-highest returning ACC wide receiver, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
Holloway played in five games as a freshman, fielding nine punts totaling 191 return yards (21.2-yard average). He set the Virginia Tech program record for single game punt return yardage on Nov. 5, 2022, against Georgia Tech (188 yards, 7 returns), scoring his first career touchdown on a 90-yard return, and earning ACC Specialist of the Week honors.
Delane played in eight games, making four starts at cornerback. He led Tech in pass breakups (eight), registering 38 tackles (17 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles. Delane earned freshman All-American accolades from College Football News and 247 Sports. He is one of the top returning cornerbacks nationally, according to PFF.
Moore made 11 starts at right guard and was part of the Hokies’ offensive line that allowed one or fewer sacks against Old Dominion (Sept. 2), Wofford (Sept. 17) and West Virginia (Sept. 22).
Strong started four games at cornerback, recording 10 tackles (seven solo), three pass breakups and one fumble recovery before missing the final seven games with an injury.
Moore attempted 73 punts totaling 3,042 yards (41.7-yard average) and placed 24 punts inside the 20, delivering 17 beyond 50 yards. His season long was 67 yards.
