PLANNING COMMISSION
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 15.2-2204 & 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, the Montgomery County Planning Commission hereby gives notice of a public hearing to be held on JULY 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, Virginia, in order to hear citizen comments regarding the Planning Commission intention to act on the following Special Use Permit request:
A request by the Thomas Benjamin Sears for a Special Use Permit (SUP) on property to allow a Short-Term Tourist Rental within an existing structure allowing the dwelling to be rented for compensation to short term transient guests. The property is located at 1950 Oilwell Road, Blacksburg (St. Rt. 824), and is located approximately 1.7 miles West of Merrimac Road (St. Rt. 657). The property is further identified as Tax Map 066-9 2 (Parcel ID: 036193), 2.162 acres, zoned Residential (R-1) in the Prices Fork Magisterial District. The property currently lies in an area designated as Residential Transition in the 2025 Comprehensive Plan.
