RADFORD – Radford City Police Patrol Captain Jerry Holdaway has been appointed to serve as the Interim Police Chief for the City of Radford.
Holdaway assumed the interim chief duties following the resignation of Chief Jeff Dodson effective July 14, 2023.
“I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve Radford as the Interim Chief of Police,” said Holdaway. “I am excited to get started and look forward to continue to move our department forward.”
Radford City Manager David Ridpath said Holdaway’s 20-plus year career with the Radford City Police Department will serve him well in this new role.
“Captain Holdaway has represented and served our community well and will continue to do so as Interim Chief,” said Ridpath. “He knows the community, is dedicated to the men and women of the department, and knows a life rooted in public safety.”
“Radford appreciates his willingness to serve in this important role for our community,” he continued.
According to Radford Director of Communications Jenni Goodman, Holdaway “has been serving most recently as Operations Captain.”
“His 20-plus year history with the department began as a patrol officer,” said Wilder. “Throughout his career he has advanced in rank serving as a senior police officer, corporal, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. Jerry has
