New River Community College (NRCC) tuition will increase for the first time in five years.
The three percent increase of $4.61 per credit hour will go into effect for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Recognizing the impact of mandatory cost increases, which include statewide adjustments for compensation and benefits, the State Board for Community Colleges recently voted unanimously to increase tuition at all 23 Virginia Community College System institutions. The new rate is $158.61 per credit hour, or $2,379.15 for a 15 credit-hour semester.
At about one-third of the comparable costs of tuition of Virginia’s public four-year universities, NRCC continues to be an affordable option for those in the college’s service region. With programs like Access to Community College Education (ACCE), G3 tuition assistance, and scholarships through the NRCC Educational Foundation, NRCC remains committed to assisting students reach their educational goals.
Fall classes at NRCC begin on Aug. 23. For more information about classes, tuition, financial assistance or to register for the fall semester, visit www.nr/edu/registernow.
