Radford University will bring a bronze medal from the World University Basketball Series this past week in Japan.
The Highlanders downed Ateneo de Manila University 77-68, in the final day of competition. Radford had the upper hand early in the game as it ended the first quarter with a 10-point advantage, 26-16, before eventually ending the first half in their favor at 45-31.
Lawson to Freak List
Bruce Feldman, one of the most respective college football writers nationally, released his 2023 Freaks List on behalf of The Athletic and Virginia Tech linebacker Keli Lawson was named to the list.
This is what Feldman had to say about the Hokie:
“One of the gems of the Hokies’ 2021 signing class, Lawson flashed some of that potential in his debut season last fall, making 23 tackles and also had an interception. Tech is hoping he can take another big step in 2023. The 6-5, 220-pounder with an 82-inch wingspan’s athleticism is intriguing. This offseason, Lawson broad-jumped 11-2, hit 39 inches on the vertical and clocked a 4.6 40.”
Football themes
With Virginia Tech football roughly halfway through fall camp, the Virginia Tech athletic department has announced promotional plans and theme days for the Hokies’ upcoming campaign.
Virginia Tech Athletics offers group tickets to any groups of 10 or more who would like to attend ticketed events in Blacksburg (while supplies last). Depending on group size and wishes, the athletic department can create memorable and unique experiences such as prize packs, pregame sideline access and more. Group leaders have the opportunity to work with a dedicated account executive to assist with obtaining tickets, planning and gameday experiences. Group packages are selling fast so group leaders are encouraged to act quickly. Click here To be contacted about your group.
It was previously announced in April which contests were Effect Games, including Orange Effect for Purdue, White Effect for Pitt and Maroon Effect for Wake Forest. Hokie Effect is a program through the Undergraduate Student Senate (USS) that designs and sells spirit shirts for football and basketball games at Virginia Tech. The Hokie Effect games encourage fans to wear a certain color in order to show school spirit and create a blanketed color effect through the venue. The best way to do this is to wear the Hokie Effect T-shirt designed specifically for that game.
