Radford University Athletics, in collaboration with the City of Radford and Nike, has revealed a men’s basketball “City Edition” alternate uniform and merchandise line to be debuted on Sunday, Dec. 3.
The uniforms draw inspiration from the official branding of the City of Radford – from the vibrant colors to the signature logos that represent our hometown.
“Our new home alternative jersey is a nod to the City of Radford and its official nickname – New River City,” said Deputy Athletics Director Cory Durand. “Our players and coaches take great pride in representing not only our University but the community they live in. This has been a fun collaboration with Nike and the City of Radford and we hope our fans enjoy the new look on the hardwood.”
“The New River City loves Highlander Basketball!,” said Radford Mayor David Horton. “We are excited for this wonderful extension of the partnership between the City of Radford and Radford University. We are proud to host Highlander Athletics, and excited to share the love for the New River City with all students, faculty, staff, and alumni at Radford University. Go Radford!”
The Highlanders’ home contest against Elon on Dec. 3 will be New River City Day and fans in attendance will have the first opportunity to get their hands on a number of tie-in merchandising items.T-shirts, hoodies, and more will be available at the team shop in the Dedmon Center, and will then become available in the university bookstore and online at RadfordTeamShop.com the following day, Monday, Dec. 4.
Radford will have extra support when they take on the Elon Phoenix thanks to the Radford High School band and cheerleaders who will be performing inside the Dedmon Center for the game as well.
