Kenneth Ray McIntyre passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the age of 68.
Ken, the son of Ophelia and Everett Duane McIntyre, was born in Charlotte, N. C., on Jan. 7, 1956. He was the beloved brother of three siblings, all of whom survive him: Gloria McEwen (David) of Christiansburg; Duane McIntyre (Kathy) of Christiansburg; and Keith McIntyre (Terri) of Clarksville, Tenn. He leaves behind five nieces, two nephews, and eleven grand nieces and nephews.
Kenneth served in the United States Air Force during the final years of the Vietnam War, 1973 – 1975, as a Security Specialist and a qualified dog handler. He returned to West Palm Beach, Fla., upon discharge. Ken learned the construction trade and worked on a number of projects in Palm Beach. He later moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., using his trade in his own business for many years.
His willingness to help people in need, great sense of humor, and expertise in his craft endeared him to many people. Twice married, twice divorced, Ken’s relationship with his second wife Cheryl lingered, as did his love for her.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com. The family is being served by Gardner Funeral Home.
