For the third consecutive year, Virginia Tech’s Master of Information Technology (VT-MIT) program has been named the No. 3 Best Online Program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The program also retained its top spot as the preferred choice for veterans for the fourth year running.
The program is a collaboration between the College of Engineering and the Pamplin College of Business.
“The VT-MIT program stands at the forefront of academic excellence, offering a dynamic curriculum that transcends traditional boundaries,” said Parviz Ghandforoush, associate dean for Pamplin graduate programs and executive director of the VT-MIT program.
Both Pamplin and engineering had other programs rank highly as well in the magazine’s 2024 Best Online Programs rankings.
Pamplin’s online MBA programs scored highly in areas of concentration in general management, where it was ranked No. 13 in this year’s survey, and in business analytics, which was ranked No. 14 in the nation. Read more about Pamplin’s ranking.
Three master’s degree programs in the College of Engineering also saw improved placement. They included:
No. 17 for Best Online Graduate Engineering
No. 8 for Best Online Master of Industrial Engineering Programs
No. 11 for Best Online Master of Electrical Engineering Programs
Across the board, these rankings have increased with the online graduate engineering program rising eight spots from No. 25 in 2023, the online industrial engineering program increasing eight spots from No. 16, and the online electrical engineering program moving from No. 12 to No. 11.
