HOME and Community Development Block Grant Programs Proposed Amendment to the 2022-2026 Consolidated Plan and 2022 Action Plan Notice of Public Comment Period
Following guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the New River Valley HOME Consortium and the Town of Blacksburg (TOB) seek public comment on proposed amendments to the 2022-2026 Con Plan and 2022 Annual Action Plan for the NRV’s HOME program and the TOB’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
HOME and CDBG activities benefit low and moderate- income persons by developing affordable housing and supporting public services throughout the NRV.
With community input, the five year Consolidated Plan identifies community needs and proposed solutions in the areas of Housing, Special Needs, Economic Development and Non-Housing Community Development. The Annual Action Plan provides a yearly accounting of HOME, CDBG, and other funds allocated for objectives outlined in the Consolidated Plan.
The proposed amendments to the 2022-2026 Con Plan and 2022 Annual Action Plan include:
- Adding a HOME- Affordable Housing Initiatives Project to allow for additional affordable housing development activities.
- Clarifying the estimated number of families that will benefit from the proposed affordable housing activities. The change is from 144 units to 75 units supported/developed with HOME and CDBG funds and 95 units supported/developed by leveraging HOME and CDBG funds.
- Assigning anticipated funding to the following projects: Historic Leggett Building Revitalization $432,250, Claremont School Redevelopment $287,038.30, and Floyd Townhomes $481,983.50, and $924,380.50 for the 2022 Annual Action Plan year.
