The Town of Christiansburg Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, June
3, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Christiansburg Town Hall, 100 E. Main
Street, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073, pursuant to 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia, as
amended. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comments concerning:
Amendment to the Christiansburg Town Code, Chapter 40, Section 40-2 Definitions and Section
40-3 – Administrator, to allow for additional administrative and planning commission reviews.
Proposed revisions to Section 40-2 change the definition of “plat” and “preliminary plat
subdivision” for consistency with the Virginia State Code definitions. Proposed revisions to Section 40-3 include: (1) allowance to the agent or the planning commission to approve lot line revisions, lot line vacations, accept on behalf of the town publicly dedicated easements
including, but not limited to, utility, access, and drainage easements, and review for tentative approval preliminary subdivision plats that contain 11 or more lots, but less than 50 lots; and
(2) allowance of tentative approval to the planning commission for the acceptance of the
dedication of public rights-of-way on behalf of the town and for preliminary subdivision plats that contain 50 or more lots.
