Christiansburg High School is turning the keys of the volleyball program over to a familiar face.
Morgan Taylor has coached for the past three years at the school, leading the junior varsity squad and assisting with the varsity, which finished 22-6 this past season with an appearance in the region 3D playoffs.
The school said in the announcement made Wednesday Taylor has been directly involved in helping to build its program over the past three years and brings a strong commitment to helping student athletes represent themselves and CHS in the best possible light, both on and off the court.
“Her knowledge, experience and leadership are excellent pillars for our program,” the school announced.
Taylor, who is a math teacher at the school, says she applied for the opening because she loves the sport and the program.
“I wanted to continue to see these girls continue to grow and wanted to help the program as best I can,” she said.
Taylor had also coached a high school freshman team and two club teams for two years in Indiana. She moved to Virginia four years ago and coached the CMS middle school team for two years before moving to the junior varsity at CHS in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
“Ultimately, I would love to be champions of our district and region, but I am also mainly aiming to provide a program for these athletes to learn, grow, and excel in,” she said.
