The Virginia Tech football program has pulled a quarterback out of the hat belonging to the state of South Carolina.
On Sunday, AJ Brand of Columbia, South Carolina, chose the Hokies over Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. His announcement was made at the Bull and Bones restaurant in Blacksburg during another visit to the neighborhood.
Besides South Carolina, Brand also had offers from Oregon State and Miami (Ohio).
The rising senior at Irmo High School had an impressive junior year that included 2,932 yards and 45 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He also rushed for 1,13 yards and 17 touchdowns. The scouting report says he is very similar to current Tech QB Kryon Drones.
This is the second QB commit for the 2025 class for the Hokies. Kelden Ryan, a three-star signal caller from Texas, announced his commitment last month.
If Brand does work out at QB, he could play multi-positions as he has been listed as an overall athlete in this recruiting process.
