BLACKSBURG – The Blacksburg Regional Art Association recently announced the winners of its Annual Juried Theme Show.
“For this year’s annual show, Blacksburg Regional Art Association artists were invited to submit their interpretation of controversy,” the BRAA announced. “The result is 41 pieces that cover a range of topics from serious commentary on hotly debated issues and satirical reactions to culture, to comedic plays on life’s less contentious matters.”
The exhibit opened on July 10 with a reception and presentation of awards. Bonnie Moreno, MFA, served as this year’s juror, and her selections are as follows:
First Place: “Controversy in a Tilted Rainbow” by Larry Mitchell
Second Place: “Creation/Evolution” by Ali Wieboldt
Third Place: “Unraveling – Mountain Top Removal” by Linda Weatherly-Shroyer
Honorable Mention: “Yes or No?” by Summer Hannah
“Congratulations to all honored,” said the BRAA.
The exhibit will be on display until October 10 at The Alexander Black House in Blacksburg, open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
