Willie Howard III will join Montgomery County Public Schools as the Director of Student Support and Intervention.
Howard brings more than 20 years of experience in education to MCPS. He currently serves as the Director of Equity and Alternative Programs for Nash County Public School in North Carolina.
Howard III has previous experience as a principal, assistant principal and a teacher. Alongside his current role in Nash County, he is a Leadership Coach for the Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
“I’m very excited to join MCPS as the Director of Student Support and Intervention,” Howard III said. “I’m looking forward to partnering with staff and the community to build a supportive environment where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to succeed.”
“We want to surround our students and staff with high-quality leaders and we believe someone with Mr. Howard’s skill set will be a great asset to MCPS,” Superintendent Dr. Bernard F. Bragen, Jr. said. “We look forward to seeing the impact Mr. Howard will have on our students.”
Howard III has a bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He has also completed doctorate level coursework in Organizational Educational Leadership. Howard III is expected to begin his new position with MCPS Sept. 13.
