BLACKSBURG- The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club is hosting an open house to show all they do for their community on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024.
Each year, the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club hosts several events that help raise money to feed back into the community via supporting other organizations, scholarships, supporting the food pantry and providing charitable donations to organizations or those in need. Some of their most popular events are their Summer Fish Frys and the fall apple butter sales. These events tend to draw in crowds up to 400 people and serve as a space for the community to gather. Their apple butter is so popular, and made with local produce, that they tend to sell out by Thanksgiving. The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club supports organizations like the Imagination Library and also organizes and produces the Fourth of July Parade for Blacksburg.
The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club Open House was such a success last year that it attracted new members and volunteers to the organization which helped with this past year’s events and community support. The open house event is an opportunity for the community to get to know the Ruritan Club and the organizations they support better as well as offer a place for residents to enjoy apple butter, to connect with one another, and for kids to enjoy crafts and activities like making ornaments for the Kent Square Christmas Tree.
The open house will be held at Slusser’s Chapel Fellowship Hall, 1543 Mt Tabor Rd, Blacksburg, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, 6:30 – 8 p.m. Residents can explore each table, ask questions about community involvement, mingle, help cut apples which will be made into a new batch of apple butter and, of course, taste their renowned apple butter and biscuits.
