RADFORD – Joyce Sims of Radford won the Radford Photo Club cyanotype challenge and Charles Lynch of Christiansburg won the “something blue” challenge with a photo of a mural in Marlinton, W.Va. that is “rich in historical detail and several stories artfully told,” he said.
Bill Kennedy of Christiansburg won the open category with a dramatic photo of the old railway bridge across the James River near Big Island, Va. taken on Oct. 29.
“What attracted me to this scene was the weathered and rusting bridge with its telegraph poles still intact,” he said. “The contrast between the aging industrial structure and the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in fall colors in the background lends interest to the photo.”
The Radford Photo Club’s next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Radford Public Library.
The Radford Photo Club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout the New River Valley. Meetings, events, and outings are open to the public.
