One of the area’s top female soccer players, Erin Bishop of Blacksburg, has announced a commitment to continue her playing career at King University in Bristol, Tennessee.
“I chose King because as soon as I walked on campus it felt like home, I loved the team environment,” she said this past weekend.
Last year as a junior at Blacksburg High School, Bishop scored 22 goals and had14 assists, being named River Ridge District and Region 4D first-team, second team all-state, all-region ECNL-RL, and selected to the Continental Tire Selection Game for travel soccer.
The King athletic teams are called the Tornado, and the university with a current enrollment of1,357 students, is a member of the NCAA Division II ranks, primarily competing in the Conference Carolinas (CC) since the 2011–12 academic year.
King finished 2-10-3 this fall.
Bishop is hoping to major in nursing and has already been accepted into the BSN program.
