Former Bruin honored
After three stellar performances featuring two complete games, freshman softball pitcher Lorelei Spradlin from Blacksburg has been named South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Pitcher of the Week for the first time.
Spradlin’s first pitcher of the week honor for Carson-Newman College comes after a week in which she threw no less than six innings in each of her three appearances, tossing two complete games and striking out 18 batters, including a season and career-high nine against Davis & Elkins. Spradlin’s 40 strikeouts are tied for third in the SAC despite appearing in two fewer games than the top arms, LMU’s Halle Grace Patton and Emory & Henry’s Malorie Reeves.

Nelson “Pepe” Paulino returns for his 28th season with the Red Sox organization as the hitting coach. Paulino brings extensive experience spending seven seasons in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Additional Red Sox MiLB stints include the Greenville Drive and Lowell Spinners.
Kyle Schmidt returns to the Red Sox organization as the Defensive Coach after serving as the Seasonal Affiliate Coach in 2025. Before joining the Red Sox organization, Schmidt had a minor league playing career with the Minnesota Twins organization from 2019-23.
