Mount Tabor Ruritan Breakfast
Mount Tabor Ruritan Club will be serving up hot biscuits topped with delicious sausage gravy, or with the latest batch of our “world-famous” apple butter, 8 – 10 a.m. They also will have scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Breakfast will be served in the Fellowship Hall of Slusser’s Chapel, 1543 Mount Tabor Rd, Blacksburg. This is below the sanctuary, on the lower church parking lot level. Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.
Radford City Council meeting
The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.
Children’s Music Class
Local music teacher Alice Armentrout will be at the Radford Public Library, 10- 10:30 a.m. to lead a children’s music class. There is no registration necessary for this event.

Blacksburg Town Council meeting
The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
Woman’s Club meeting
The Woman’s Club of Radford will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Radford Public Library 30 West Main St. Meetings are open to the public and new members from throughout the NRV are welcome.

Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting

Ninth District Traveling Staff
Congressman Griffith’s Ninth District staff will be available at the Radford Recreation Center, 200 George St., 12:30- 2 p.m. In the event of inclement weather (heavy snow, sleet, icy rain, etc.), traveling office hours may be rescheduled to avoid putting constituents at risk. If a County’s or City’s schools are closed, then its office hours will be closed as well. Disaster Preparedness with Professor Stephen Owen
Will you know what to do when disaster strikes? Come to the Radford Public Library, 6- 7 p.m. to learn useful information about a wide range of scenarios from a disaster preparedness expert. Professor Stephen Owen of Radford University will be at the library sharing practical information based on years of disaster planning experience. This educational event is free and open to the public. Everyone who attends will be entered to win a prize, a brand new first aid kit! Christiansburg Christmas tree collection
Christmas tree collection will run weekdays from Jan. 5-16, 2026. Please remove all lights from your trees, as well as the stand. Artificial trees, garland and wreaths will not be accepted. Leave your tree at the curb for collection. Crews will follow normal garbage collection routes, so please place your tree out prior to your normal collection day.
Blacksburg Christmas tree collection
Christmas tree collection is available to all Town of Blacksburg refuse and recycling customers. Trees that are collected will be chipped and used as an alternate fuel source. Place your cut tree at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Monday of the second week in January to ensure pickup. Trees and greenery must be free of all decorations and wire. Applications open for NRV Master Gardeners class
The New River Valley Master Gardeners are currently accepting applications for the 2026 Master Gardener training class. The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. at the Montgomery County Government Center. The course will begin on Feb. 10 and end on May 5.
