CHRISTIANSBURG- The Town of Christiansburg celebrated the last Rockin’ Main Street Concert of the summer Saturday, Aug. 10.
The event, held on Main Street by Christiansburg Town Hall, was well attended.
Residents were encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the music from local artists. The Town of Christiansburg and the Christiansburg Parks and Recreation Department provided lawn games for residents and the little ones to enjoy, like cornhole and giant jenga.
With food trucks, wine and beer, residents ate, talked and danced along to music from Solacoustix and Travis Reigh. Solacoustix is a town favorite who plays music from soul to R&B to country as well. They had the town singing and dancing along to covers of popular songs and Solacoustix’s own soulful sound. Travis Reigh is a local artist from Southwest Virginia who had residents swaying and singing to his blend of country and rock music. The music choices were a wonderful way to celebrate summer coming to a close.
The food trucks had many options for residents to enjoy. If a resident was not an alcohol drinker, the food trucks had plenty of nonalcoholic beverages as well. There really was something to enjoy for everyone, including Mayor Michael Barber who could be seen talking with residents and enjoying the music with his community and Christiansburg Police Department who were keeping the community safe. What a wonderful event to close out the summer with.
The next major upcoming event for Christiansburg will be a new event called Better together: Rockin’ Food Truck Rodeo, set for Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. This new event will be a combination of the beloved Rockin’ Main Street Concerts and Food Truck Rodeo. It’ll be the first time they come together for Montgomery County.
