The Annual August Yard Sale of the Rotary Club of Blacksburg is set for this Saturday, Aug. 24.

BLACKSBURG – It’s that time of the year again!

The Annual August Yard Sale of the Rotary Club of Blacksburg will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 from 7 -11 a.m.  The event will be held at the YMCA on North Main Street.

The Rotary Yard Sale has been held since 1988.  It will feature a wide range of items including kitchen appliances, monitors, household items, tools, furniture, bikes, toys, books, and so much more.  Come by the YMCA on August 24 and see if you can find a treasure.

All proceeds go to local Rotary projects, events, and scholarships for students.  Last year, ten scholarships were awarded to high school seniors.  In addition, donations were made to the Women’s Resource Center, Montgomery County Christmas Store, Community Health Center of NRV, Interfaith Food Pantry, Micha’s Backpack, Literacy Grant, Citizen of the Year, and First Responder of the Year.

The motto of Rotary is Service Above Self.  The Annual Yard Sale is just one of the many projects of the Rotary Club of Blacksburg that enables Rotarians to reach out to the community to serve others.

“The yard sale has been a fantastic event for our club and the community for over 35 years,” said Chris Belluzzo, Chair of the Yard Sale Committee. “In addition to raising funds for scholarships and local community initiatives and activities, the sale gives new life to items that may have otherwise found their way into our landfills.”
