The Big South Conference announced Wednesday morning Radford’s women’s cross country program was selected to finish third and the men’s cross country program was selected fourth in the preseason poll voted by the conference’s coaches.
The women’s cross country team, led by Sam Bradley in his sixth season, was predicted to finish third, their third straight season being chosen to finish among the top-three members of the Big South and fifth straight season being chosen to finish in the top-half of the conference.
The women were picked just behind second-place Charleston Southern with 63 points earning two votes for second, five votes for third and two votes for fourth. Behind Radford was UNC Asheville with 56 points and Longwood in fifth with 41 points.
The men’s cross country team, also led by head coach Bradley, was predicted to place fourth, their fourth straight season being picked to finish within the top-half of the conference.
The men were picked just behind third-place High Point earning 54 points with a majority over their votes coming at fourth. Behind them in fifth was USC Upstate with 41 points and Longwood in sixth with 34 points.
The cross country season begins Aug. 30 and culminates Nov. 1 at the Big South Championships which will be hosted this season by Charleston Southern.
