This fall, Blacksburg cyclists will notice some great new features making biking even more convenient for commuters and cycling enthusiasts.
Thanks to a federally funded grant from the Transportation Alternatives initiative, the Town of Blacksburg will install enclosed bike lockers in the Progress Street parking lot and the Armory parking lot, conveniently located downtown. The lockers will provide secure, weather-protected storage for long-term use, ensuring that bikes remain safe and easily accessible. These lockers are available to users for free.
In addition to the lockers, the grant allowed the construction of the College Avenue Bike Corral, which holds ten bikes in the space originally taken up by one car, and the addition of new covered bike racks to be placed in various town parks, such as Municipal Park and Nellies Cave Park.
