CHRISTIANSBURG- The Town of Christiansburg and Downtown Christiansburg Incorporated combined two popular events into one for the first time this year and the community loved it.

The Town of Christiansburg and Downtown Christiansburg Inc. combined the ever-popular Rockin’ Main Street concert event with the Food Truck Rodeo to create a combined event for the community and this became the first ever Better Together: Rockin’ Food Truck Rodeo. The Better Together: Rockin’ Food Truck Rodeo was held on Main Street in Christiansburg on Sept. 14, 2024 3- 9 p.m.

Residents attended the event in droves and DCI and the Town of Christiansburg ensured there was something for everyone. The was a kids’ zone for the little ones to have fun as well as beer and wine for the adults to enjoy. The alcohol vendors for this event were Blue Ridge Beverage, Iron Heart Winery and J.H. Bards Spirit Co.

Many residents brought their own chairs to set up to watch the live music. The musical acts were full of local favorites like Jimothy, Don & The Deltones and Miller Holler. The music had community members dancing and jamming out for hours. Residents were seen enjoying the covers of classic songs as well as original music for some of the artists.

The stars of the evening were the 20-plus food trucks for those attending to try and maybe experience a new flavor. The food trucks had lines extending into the crowd of passersby with residents excited for the goods they had to offer. Some of the food trucks vendors present were 800 Degrees Wood Fired Pizza, Cabo Fish Taco, Big Daddy’s BBQ, Empanada Nirvana, Grandpa Ike’s Mini Donuts and many other fantastic vendors offering delicious foods and sweet treats. There were even vendors who offered frozen treats for residents to cool off as the evening went along, like Charlee Tropical Italian Ice, Smooshed, Spoons and Space Rabbit Coffee.

Hundreds of Montgomery County residents and visitors were in attendance for this event. Many in attendance shared the same sentiment of hoping this event were to come back to Christainsburg again next year. The first ever Better Together: Rockin’ Food Truck Rodeo looks like it could set precedence for more combined events in the future.
