BLACKSBURG TOWN COUNCIL will hold public hearings on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 South Main Street, Blacksburg, regarding the following items:
Ordinance 2067: An Ordinance Amending Chapter Five of the Town Code Pertaining To Animals And Fowl By Repealing Section 5-105 and Amending Sections 5-107 And 5-200.
The proposed ordinance repeal Town Code section 5-105 related to the keeping of hogs, since the Zoning Ordinance already addresses this issue through Agriculture regulations. Additionally, the proposed ordinance would amend Town Code section 5-107 to exempt falcons, hawks and owls from dangerous animal registration requirement contained at Town Code section 5.106. Finally, Town Code section 5.200 would be amended to expressly state that electronic leashes or training devices cannot be used in lieu of leashes.
All persons affected by or interested in the proposed ordinances above may appear and present their views. After each public hearing, Town Council will consider action on the item.
