CHRISTIANSBURG- Christiansburg High School’s music department will host its 25th annual Breakfast with Santa this Saturday, Dec. 7.
Christiansburg High School’s Music Department hosts Breakfast with Santa to help support the music department. This event hosts a delicious pancake breakfast along with music, games and holiday fun. Residents who attend may take a photo with Santa and his elves. The event is set for 8 a.m. – noon at CHS.
David Miller, Christiansburg High’s Band Director, says this is his favorite event they do all year and that many of the students and others agree with those sentiments. A week before the event, students make decorations, stuff goody bags for residents and work together to create a fun holiday space to host this event. Students also work at the event by being elves, running games, cleaning tables, and serving community members. They also help little ones write letters to Santa and help with all the other activities to bring out the holiday spirit in the youngest Montgomery County residents. The students also will have prepared musical acts for those in attendance to enjoy.
“While this is a fundraiser for the music department,” Miller said, “we typically gauge our success by all the smiles we see all morning long. If the kids are excited to play, excited to see Santa, and are having a good time, then we have been successful in my book. Truly every parent, student, and teacher that works this event just enjoys seeing everyone have a great time and being a part of it.”
Breakfast with Santa raises money for Christiansburg High School’s Music Department and that money goes towards things that help the young musicians’ futures thrive with music. The funds help pay for trips, uniforms and their maintenance, fees for marching band and keeping the department thriving.
Tickets are six dollars for children under 12 and eight dollars for ages starting at 13 and all the way to the young at heart.
This year, CHS Music Department will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots. The music department, Miller explained, tries to continue to give back to the community that gives so much to them. The toys will go to those in need this holiday season and the music department asks that the toy donations are new toys and are donated without wrapping.
