The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team was a terrible host for their Radford neighbors during a contest Sunday at Cassell Coliseum. Tech took the 73-34 win.

The Lady Highs only shot 22 percent from the field 17.4 percent from behind the arc. Meanwhile Tech short 45 percent from the field and 50 from the three-point mark. The hosts also owned an advantage on the glass 41-35. Tech rejected 10 shots in the game, the most they have recorded this season.

Tech scored the last 14 points of the first quarter to grab a lead they would not relinquish as they squeezed Radford on the defensive end only allowing 34 total points.

Tech’s Lani White led all scorers with 23 points, her career high, and she was followed closely by Carkleigh Wenzel who dropped 22 behind six triples.

The game was the 39th in the NRV clash with the Hokies now holding a 30-9 edge in the series The meeting marked the third time in the last four seasons that the two squads faced off in Blacksburg with Virginia Tech taking all four contests.
