Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Last Thursday I attended a rally in Christiansburg that was held across the street from the Trump Store.  The rally was attended by close to 150 people; each person had a sign which told their story of what has been going on in this country for the last 60 days.

They were not there for the press or to be arrested, they just wanted in their own way an opportunity to say something to other voters that they are concerned and scared of what is going on throughout the county and this was their way of doing it.

As I walked along the signs and talked to the people, I could tell as a whole they were displeased that Morgan Griffith says nothing, does nothing, just there for the paycheck.

They had little to say about tariffs, or Ukraine (one lady did have a Ukraine flag and I wore a yellow sweater).

What concerned them most was the power that Elon Musk has in the Trump administration: potential reduction in Medicare, Social Security, and education. They were also frightened at the possibility of losing the privilege of being able to express their opinion on matters and on events that are happening in this country.

They handled the rally in a professional manner as cars drove bye. Many cars honked, showing their approval and saying thanks for stepping forward.

The rally went from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At one, everyone collected their signs and went home, knowing they had helped keep the American dream alive.
