Dear editor,
Last Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Town of Christiansburg entered the history books as approximately 500 residents attended a rally in the middle of the town square. The area was flooded with citizens. They did not come with knives, guns or hate, they came with questions, questions concerning life in this country. They were voters who were wondering what is going on, they felt they have no one to talk to for the answers. They feel the politicians who represent their district are out playing golf with Mr. Trump. One group was passing around a sheet to see if Bernie Saunders could be encouraged to come here a give some directions on what needs to be done.
As I walked the crowd of individuals and signs, I copied down some comments that would give readers the idea of the feeling at the rally. The people do not want to be deported, they do not want to be sent to prison; they just want someone to listen to them. Most of all, they want their country back.
