Lily Franklin for Delegate
BLACKSBURG — Lily Franklin, candidate for House District 41, is hosting a community forum focused on rural education and how the state government can better support students today, Wednesday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m.
Voters consistently cite education as a top priority, and Franklin has made it a central pillar of her campaign. She emphasizes the need to tailor education to rural districts, ensuring that students in Southwest Virginia receive high-quality instruction.
“If you grew up in Southwest Virginia and attended public schools like I did, you know that too often our students get left behind. Our students don’t get prioritized for new STEM programs, cutting-edge learning software, and other resources. We deserve better,” said Franklin.
Franklin attended public schools throughout her life and graduated from Northside High School in Roanoke County. She began her career as a high school math teacher in a rural Appalachian district.
The panel will include Ryan Wade, a middle school civics teacher; Eric Thomas, a high school history teacher; Kristi Snyder, a childcare provider; Maryjane Drengwitz, a special education teacher; and will be moderated by Reed Galen of The Union.
